Alex Fraser Biography
Alex was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease at 19 years old whilst studying Professional Musicianship at Sussex University in 2010. He was offered cannabis at a party and immediately noticed his symptoms subside...
Four years of personal research into Crohn’s, medical cannabis and immune disorders led him to join other prominent patient activists to form The United Patients Alliance in 2014. The UPA has since become the UK’s leading medical cannabis advocacy organisation.
In just four years Alex has represented medical cannabis patients at meetings with MP’s from all major parties including Dr Dan Poulter (Con), Paul Flynn (Lab) and Nick Clegg (Lib). Alex has appeared on ITV’s this morning in 2016, on the BBC News in 2017 and News Beat on The BBC in 2018. He has featured in a number of major newspapers and also written pieces on medical cannabis and advocacy for a number of smaller publications and cannabis media websites and blogs.
Alex’s work has led him to tell his story and speak publicly about medical cannabis at many events across Europe and the UK.
Alex has a wealth of contacts in the cannabis industry and is well respected in the wider drug reform campaign. He has worked alongside Families4Access, Volteface, Release & LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition). He has met with representatives from Bedrocan, Tilray, Canopy Growth, Aurora Cannabis, Columbia Care and MPX Bioceutical and also has links within the UK CBD industry and the many cannabis law reform groups and private members clubs.
Now working independently with The Patient Approach, Alex is utilising his wealth of knowledge and skills to facilitate the relationships between patients, medical professionals and those producing and distributing cannabis medicines in the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.
